NIJ (USA National Institute of Justice) Threat Classifications
The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) in America provides up to date standards that classify body armor according to the level of protection it gives. Please see below for a summary of the different threat levels according to the latest NIJ 0101.06 requirements. If you want to look at their recommendations in more detail, you can download the full document from here. If you are an embedded journalist or civilians working in danger zones with military escorts or advice available, be sure to ask for their recommendation as they will be best informed of the likely threats you will encounter. Alternatively, contact us for advice.
